The 18th G20 Summit commences with the presence of several top world leaders and heads of global organisations

NewsThe 18th G20 Summit will take place on Saturday at the recently opened Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan, and a number of important world leaders and heads of international organisations are expected to participate. As per summit procedure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome the leaders. Along with numerous activities, the Leaders' Summit will have three main sessions: One Earth, One Family, and One Future. Later on in the day, President Droupadi Murmu will host a banquet in celebration of the G20 leaders.
In addition to other G20 leaders and the heads of many important international organisations, including the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Modi, US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and others, have arrived in New Delhi for the summit.
The event, according to G20 Special Secretary Muktesh Pardeshi, would demonstrate India's capacity to host a variety of events. From early on Saturday, the main venue and the International Media Centre (IMC) were bustling with activity as hundreds of officials, delegates, and journalists entered through many layers of security. Around the location, a sizable number of security guards and sniffer dogs have been stationed.
Over 220 G20 meetings have been held in 60 different places throughout India during their G20 chairmanship. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union make up the G20, often known as the Group of Twenty.
India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1st, 2022, and will hold it until November 30th, 2023, when Brazil will take over.
