The ceremonies known as Sindoor Khela are carried out on the final day of Durga puja, an auspicious occasion when married ladies bid the mother goddess Durga farewell. Bengali mothers customarily place sindoor on their married daughters' foreheads before sending them to their in-laws' home after seeing their father's house. Married women also customarily place sindoor on the forehead of the Durga idol before putting sindoor on each other's faces and having fun while dancing to the beats of the "Dhaki" drummers. The whole state of West Bengal, including Kolkata, celebrates it.
Activities:
Women first perform ‘Arati ‘and then apply sindoor to the forehead and feet of the Goddess and then apply the same sindoor to each other faces .
