Shuktara Cakes French Patisseries

A nonprofit organisation called shuktara, with its headquarters in Kolkata, offers care to disabled children and youth who have no family. David Earp, a UK native, founded shuktara in 1999 after travelling to India and becoming deeply affected by the situation of the crippled street kids he saw there. David and Pappu Mishra, the chairman of Shuktara, were worried about their future because they were all becoming older. Thus, they made the decision to establish Shuktara Cakes, a patisserie training facility, in order to provide the young people of Shuktara with vocational training and employment, with the assistance of French restaurant Alain Cojean and Executive Pastry Chef of Fauchon in Paris, Fabien Rouillard.
