Shri Gauri-Shankar Temple located at Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the center of faith of the devotees. Here the Ardhanarishwar form of Lord Shiva is found.
It is believed that Lord Bholenath, sitting in the middle of five Peepal trees, fulfills every wish of the devotees. According to the management committee that has been taking care of the temple since 1909, the temple is about 800 years old.
In the month of Shravan, Kanwadis also get the privilege of worshiping Bholenath along with their entire family. Experts associated with the temple claim that Shaiva sect has played a big role in the history of India. This temple is a symbol of that sect. The Shivalinga present between five Peepal trees has been present for hundreds of years, on which a drop of water from a silver vessel placed above is doing the anointment.
