The Mizo people are renowned for their musical abilities and capabilities, and music plays a significant role in Mizo culture. The nickname "Songbird of the North East" is given to Mizoram. Every year in Aizawl, there is a 2-day rock concert and a week-long Inter Village Band Contest called Seki. Bands from all across the State travelled to Aizawl to perform at the rock event and compete in the competition.
