The Sarhul festival, which ushers in the Hindu calendar's first month, is held every year on the third day of the moon, or the fortnight of "Chaitra." Sarhul marks the arrival of the spring season, or "Phaagun," and is observed until the month of June, or "Jeth." Sarhul refers as "tree worship." Oraon, the Munda and the Ho tribes begin the Sarhul festival by worshipping trees and other natural objects since they live close to the natural world.
