Offering both basic and advanced education degrees, the Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing is a pioneering institution for nursing education in South East Asia and India. It is academically connected to University of Delhi as the Department of Nursing within the department of science, and it is financially governed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The provision and advancement of nursing education and research is the College's main goal.
When the college first opened its doors in 1946, its B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing degree was designed to prepare young women for careers as professional nurses to satisfy the nation's healthcare requirements.
The University of Delhi authorised the two-year Master of Nursing programme in 1959. The M.Phil. programme in nursing was launched in 1986 as a preparatory course for pursuing doctorate studies, and the Department of Nursing at the University of Delhi launched the PhD programme in nursing in 1992.
