NewsThe stage is prepared for the launch of "Ormathoni," a Social Justice department initiative for the elderly suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia, in the State on Thursday.
Minister for Social Justice R. Bindu will conduct the project's State-level inauguration at 10 a.m., at Government College for Women, Vazhuthacaud. On Wednesday at 11.30 a.m., the Minister will unveil the Ormathoni logo in her Assembly chamber.
To achieve the aim of creating a dementia- and Alzheimer's-friendly Kerala, the Kerala Social Security Mission would execute Ormathoni with the assistance of other departments.
Prior to the inauguration, physicians, Vayomithram project personnel, and ASHA employees in urban local bodies received training on how to handle these patients.
Experts working in this field were part of a State-level resource group under the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), the Directorate of Medical Education, and the Health department that delivered the training. Following the inauguration, ASHA employees will participate in a training.
Memory, reasoning, and thought processes are all impacted by dementia and Alzheimer's disease. According to a statement that quoted Ms. Bindu, the State is treating dementia as a social issue in addition to a health one. The goal of the dementia-friendly Kerala initiative is to offer appropriate assistance to all individuals with dementia.
This fiscal year, ₹92 lakh in administrative approval was granted for Ormathoni initiatives. KUHS, many agencies, and Local Self-Government organisations will assist in its implementation.
