O Pedro, a Goan-inspired version of Mumbai's well-known Bombay Canteen, features both the 450-year-old Portuguese colonisation history and the seafood-heavy cuisine of the coastal state. Though the only backpack the wealthy patrons would ever wear would be a monogrammed Louis Vuitton, the location among the gleaming corporate towers of the Bandra Kurla Complex may not seem like the most obvious place for an ode to the backpackers' paradise, once inside the shabby-chic decor of cane chairs and lace curtains transmits an authentic holiday vibe. The standout item on a whimsical menu that pays homage to home cooking and is expected to include both chicken xacuti and piri-piri chicken are the vibrantly flavoured vegetable dishes.
