Located in the Dharampura neighbourhood of Old Delhi, India, Naya Mandir is a historically significant Jain temple that Aurangzeb gave to the Jain community.
At the expense of over 8 lakh rupees, an incredible sum at the time, Raja Harsukh Rai, a treasurer in the Mughal Empire during the late Mughal period, built a massive and elaborate Jain temple in the Dharampura neighbourhood of Old Delhi in 1807 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar II. During the Mughal era, he was able to secure imperial approval to build a shikhara for the temple for the first time. Because an older Jain temple that is currently known as the Lal Mandir already existed, the temple is thus known as the Naya Mandir (new temple).
