Dr. K. P. Gopalkrishna, the chairman, and Dr. Santhamma Gopalkrishna, the dean, founded the National Public School in Gopalapuram in 1970. School is located in the centre of Gopalapuram.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has accorded NPS Gopalapuram the status of permanent affiliation.
