National College Basavanagudi is located in Basavanagudi and is managed by The National Education Society of Karnataka (NES). NES, established in 1917 with the goal of promoting nationalistic ideals, oversees seventeen institutions, including National College, which was founded in 1945.
Padmabhusan Dr. H. Narasimhaiah served as the chairman of NES until his passing and is credited with significantly contributing to the college's growth. He also initiated the Bangalore Science Forum (BSF), a pioneering platform in India that hosted lectures by experts from various scientific fields every Wednesday and daily throughout July. Established in 1945 to mark the Silver Jubilee of the National High School, National College has expanded considerably and is now associated with value-based higher education. Reflecting the values of the National Education Society, founded by visionary individuals dedicated to nation-building, the college has, for over six decades, played a substantial role in the holistic development of society.
