Minister for Ports announced that first ship carrying a consignment of cranes from China will dock at the Vizhinjam international seaport on October 4

NewsOn October 4, the first ship bringing a shipment of cranes from China will arrive at the Vizhinjam international seaport, according to the announcement made here on Monday by Minister for Ports Ahammad Devarkovil. The second ship will berth at the port, on October 28, and the next two will do so on November 11 and 14, respectively. The first ship's cranes were imported from China and will be set up at the Vizhinjam port, which is being built by Adani Ports.
According to Mr. Devarkovil, the ship would be welcomed by Union Minister for Ports Sarbananda Sonowal and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He also mentioned that the crane installation will enable the port to handle containers. The Minister reviewed the current projects and stated that a 400-meter-long berth's construction was almost finished and that 75% of the breakwater was now complete. "We want to finish all the construction by December and open the port in May 2024. According to him, the initiative "is anticipated to stimulate the State's growth.
At a ceremony to be conducted in the capital on September 20, Mr. Devarkovil stated that Mr. Vijayan will announce the official name of the Vizhinjam international seaport and unveil the logo. Over 100 representatives of shipping lines will attend an international shipping conclave that the government is also sponsoring in the last week of October.
In an effort to promote the seaport and draw investment to the marine industry, the Kerala Maritime Board and the Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited will take part in the International Marine Expo, which will be held in Mumbai in the second week of October.
