Kashmiri Gate, also called Kashmere Gate, is a major metro station on Delhi Metro. The Red Line stops here, while the Yellow and Violet Lines stop beneath. Between the Violet Line on the parallel subterranean level, the Yellow Line on the lowest underground level, and the Red Line on the highest above level, it serves as a transfer stop. In all of India, this is the busiest metro station. It was given a name on December 25, 2002. Together with Vishwa Vidyalaya, it acts as an alternative Northern Terminus for the yellow line during rush hour.
With an area of around 118,400 square feet, the Kashmere Gate Metro station serves the historic Kashmiri Gate neighborhood of Delhi. It is also the first three-line interchange metro station in India. The massive station spans more than six stories. It features dining establishments, quick food chains, McDonald's, Burger King, water dispensers, three lavatory buildings, more than thirty-five escalators, ticket vending machines, etc.
