Fourth edition of the Nitte International Film Festival to be held from June 8 to June 11

The Nitte International Film Festival (NIFF), organised by Nitte (Deemed to be University), will take place in Bharath Cinemas, Bharath Mall in Bejai, from June 8 to June 11.

On a first-come, first-served basis, all film screenings and conversations are free and accessible to the public. The festival seeks to present highly regarded films from India and throughout the globe while giving creators and audiences a forum for discussion.

Premendra Mazumdar, vice-president of the Federation of Film Societies of India, will start the festival on June 8 at 10 a.m. with Prithvi Konnanur's Kannada film Hadinelentu.

Kantara (Kannada), Family (Malayalam), Koramma (Tulu), Ek Jagah Apni (Hindi), Valvi (Marathi), and Anunad (Assamese) are among the lineup's other films. Tortoise Under the Earth (Santhali), Dhuin (Mythili), and Gandhi & Co. The final film is Rima Das' Assamese film, Tora's Husband. According to a press release, the schedule is accessible on Instagram @ nittefilmfest.

With Germany as the main emphasis, the NIFF will play 13 German films, including Generation Incompatible, Zuhur's Daughters, Exil, New Building, and Dear Future Children, in association with the Goethe Institute and the German Embassy in Bengaluru. Films from West Asia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, France, and Senegal are also being screened at NIFF.

To commemorate Osmane Sembene's 100th birthday, a retrospective of the Senegalese novelist and filmmaker will be shown. Sembene's Black Girl (1963) and Mandabi (1962) restored versions, as well as a Samba Gadjago documentary about Sembene, will be shown.

There will be a photo exhibition called Snapshots from Sandalwood's History, as observed by photographer Ashwath Narayana. It will feature rare and unreleased images that document 60 years of Kannada film.

There will be interactions between actors and spectators, including Raj B. Shetty, Manish Saini, Shivadwaj, Shishir Jha, Rahul P.K., Mansore, Jeo Baby, Champa Shetty, Bharat Mirle, Saurabh Kanti Dutta, Amartya Bhattacharya, and Umesh Badiger.

There are five free masterclasses offered as part of the festival: The Art of Film Reviewing by Namrata Joshi; The Art and Craft of Art Direction by Shashidhar Adappa; The Art of Storytelling by Jayanth Kaikini; Film Direction by Mikhil Musale; and Short Film Making by Ganesh B. Shetty.
