One of Tamil Nadu's most well-known churches is the Santhome Basilica, which is located in the neighbourhood of Chennai. The church holds a great celebration to honour Easter day every year on the first Sunday following the first full moon day between the months of March and April. St. Thomas, who is regarded as one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, is the subject of the famous shrine Santhome Basilica. Resurrection Sunday, also known as the Festival of Easter, is widely celebrated everywhere.
It is one of the most fortunate holidays in the Christian calendar. Easter Sunday is a happy holiday because it is thought that Jesus Christ's resurrection shows that life does not terminate with death. On this auspicious day, the followers go to the church to pray. The preacher tells the congregation about how Jesus suffered for his followers and for all of humanity. After the church ceremony, people exchange brightly coloured eggs, flowers, dazzling lanterns, cakes, and chocolates with one another as a symbol of good health and fortune. To commemorate Easter and Jesus Christ's resurrection, thousands of followers visit this church each year.
