After the victory over Kanchipuram in 1603 AD, it is said that Goddess Tarini travelled to Keonjhargarh with Gobinda Bhanja, King of an ex-princely state, who had been appointed as Commander by Gajapati, King of Puri. However, Goddess Tarini chose to stay at Ghatagoan, a less well-known location.
