Liberty Cinema is a single-screen, Art Deco movie theater with 1,200 seats located in Mumbai, India. The movie theater's founder, Habib Hoosein, chose the name "Liberty" because it was constructed in 1947, the year of Indian independence. Hindi and Bollywood films are shown at Liberty. Liberty Cinema is "an exquisite jewel box of rococo decoration enhanced by a coloured lighting scheme suggesting a fairyland far away from the bustle and tumult in the streets outside," according to David Vinnels and Brent Skelly's book Bollywood Showplaces: Cinema Theatres in India. A small, thirty-seat theater called Liberty Mini is located on the fifth level of the Liberty Cinema building. Decorated with pre-independence artwork, it serves as a venue for private screenings and press previews.
