Buddha Purnima honours the Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and passing. It is observed on the full moon day of the lunar month, which comes between the months of April and May, and is also known as Buddha Jayanti and Vesak.
On this day (dharma), devotees from all around the country don white garments, exchange pleasantries, and impart his teachings.
One of the busiest celebrations takes place in Bodhgaya, Bihar, the site of Lord Buddha's purported enlightenment under a banyan tree. The well-known Mahabodhi Temple, which holds a tree that evolved from the original banyan tree and welcomes visitors from all over the globe, is illuminated by bright lights and floral arrangements. Due to the fact that Lord Buddha delivered his first speech to his disciples at the Uttar Pradesh town of Sarnath, which is near to Varanasi, Sarnath also lights up for this event. To mark the event, a big fair is arranged, and the lord's antiques are brought out to be shown on caparisoned elephants.
