Bengaluru Fort, originally built as a mud fort in 1537 by the city's founder Kempe Gowda I, was later reconstructed in stone by Haider Ali in 1761, becoming a formidable military fortress.
This historical landmark, known for its Indo-Islamic architecture, played a significant role during the Anglo-Mysore Wars, particularly when British forces captured it in 1791.
Today, only parts of the original structure remain, including the iconic Delhi Gate and Ganapati Temple, reflecting the cultural and religious inclusiveness of the time. Located near KR Market, Bengaluru Fort offers visitors a glimpse into the city’s rich history and the legacy of Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan.
