Situated within the Periyar Science and Technology Centre are the buildings of BM Birla Planetarium Chennai. Furthermore, it's regarded as India's most contemporary planetarium.
In 1983, the planetarium was founded. However, R Venkataraman, the Indian president at the time, gave it his official opening in 1988. It is well-known for its virtual star tours. You may examine more than 500 exhibits in its many galleries. There are several areas within the collection, including Life Science, Electronics and Communications, Energy, and more.
It has a sky theatre with a hemispherical dome where you may see a variety of cosmic celestial objects. There are Tamil and English versions of these programmes. Additionally, it plans audio-visual events with various astronomical themes.
