Ahilya Bai College of Nursing (ABCON) is established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Govt of Delhi to achieve Quality in Nursing Education. The ABCON is situated in the MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College) Campus of central Delhi and it is the core part of Lok Nayak Hospital.
Nursing course offered by the Ahilya Bai College of Nursing is affiliated with the University of Delhi and complies with INC and DNC norms. The Ahilya Bai College of Nursing offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing course which has four academic years, inclusive of internship. The fourth academic year is further divided into 8 semesters. The purpose of the course is to assist the students to become professional Nurses who are committed to the promotion of health, prevention of disease, care, and rehabilitation of clients. The college provides opportunities for the student to integrate and utilize knowledge, understanding and skills from the various bio-psycho-social fields of learning necessary in the practice of nursing. The curriculum has been planned to provide breadth of knowledge to enable the program to function effectively in varied nursing situations where the nurse will work as a member of health team for group of patients, families and communities at various levels in urban as well as in rural areas.
