AKRSP works as a catalyst for the betterment of rural communities by providing direct support to local communities. AKRSP is active in over 3255 villages of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra. It has impacted lives of over 3.5 million people from marginalised sections of society. 

They have identified large geographies where landscape level work is possible to achieve climate change mitigation and adaptation. Their geographies are varied in nature, including coastal, semi-arid, flood-affected and degraded hilly regions. These geographies are identified considering the vulnerability of communities living in these landscapes. Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) is a non-denominational, non-government development organization.
