The Kallakurichi region of Tamil Nadu is home to the Arulmigu Ulagalantha Perumal Temple. In the early historical Tamil literature of the Azhwar saints from the sixth to ninth century AD, the sanctuary is referred to as the Divya Prabandha and is constructed in the Dravidian architectural style. Lord Vishnu, who is seated in a standing position with one leg elevated above King Mahabali's head, is the temple's presiding deity.
Aandal Utsavam - The "Aadi Thiruvadipooram" is a festival held annually in August to honour the advent of the goddess Aandal. The celebration is known as "Aadi Pooram" because the goddess was born in the month of Aadi under the Nakshatra (star) of Pooram. The deity is carried around the celebration grounds in a procession. The deity is carried in procession around the temple during this celebration on a decorated palanquin. To attend the special poojas and the car celebration held at the temple, thousands of devotees assemble there.
