14th edition of the International Theatre Festival of Kerala ITFoK will begin on February 9

EventThe 14th edition of the International Theatre Festival of Kerala (ITFoK), which gets underway here on February 9, will feature plays that explore the recurring themes of war, conflicts, and the longing of refugees for a place they belong. The eight-day festival, which is being conducted by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in collaboration with the State Culture department, has as its theme "Ensemble, Peace and Confidence."
There will be 47 performances total of 23 plays, including eight productions by international theatre companies. Plays will be presented by troupes from Bangladesh, France, Brazil, Finland, Italy, Tunisia, Palestine, and Chile.
Apatridas, a play from Brazil, opens. The drama centres on human catastrophe, migration flows, refugees, and the destruction of the local people's territory in Brazil. It is inspired by the figures of Kassandra, Hecuba, Prometheus, and Hercules. The characters discuss belonging and identity.
In addition to plays, there will be music band performances, meet-the-director events, panel discussions, and theatrical workshops. Regional Theatre, Town Hall, Bharat Murali Open Theatre, Thoppil Bhasi Black Box, School of Drama campus, Palace Ground, KTM Front Yard, Ramanilayam campus and KILA are the nine locations.
A performance based on the writings of revolutionary German theaterman, poet, and thinker Bertolt Brecht, who revolutionised German drama through his dedication to socialist politics and the emancipation of the working people, is presented as part of a festival commemorating his 125th birthday.
